ATTACKS ON EGYPT

Here is a chronology of previous attacks targeting Egypt’s infrastructure and tourism:
1. October 21, 1992 – Attack on tourist bus killed a British woman and wounded two British men.
2. February 26, 1993 -- A Turk, a Swede and an Egyptian were killed and 20 others were wounded when a bomb struck a Cairo coffee shop.
3. June 8, 1993 – Blast near a tour bus on Pyramids Road in Cairo, killed two Egyptians and wounded 22 other, including five Britons.
4. March 4, 1994 – A group of unidentified gunmen fired at Nile cruiser in southern Egypt, killing a German woman.
5. August 26, 1994 -- A tourist bus in southern Egypt was attacked, and one Spanish boy lost his life.
6. September 27, 1994 -- Two Egyptians and two German tourists were killed in a gun attack in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada.
7. October 23, 1994 -- A British tourist and three people were killed in a minibus attack.
8. April 18, 1996 – A group of gunmen killed 18 Greek tourists near the Giza Pyramids.
9. September 18, 1997 -- Shooting and firebomb attack killed nine German tourists outside the Egyptian Museum.
10. November 17, 1997 -- 58 tourists and four Egyptians were killed at an ancient temple near southern Egyptian town of Luxor.
11. October 7, 2004 – Series of bombings killed at least 34 people at Taba Hilton hotel on Egypt's border with Israel.
12. April 7, 2005 - An American and two French people died in an attack on a Cairo bazaar.
13. April 30, 2005 – Powerful blast near the Egyptian museum wounded seven tourists.
14. July 23, 2005 – 83 people, mostly Egyptians died, and more than 200 were wounded in a string of bomb attacks in Sharm el-Sheikh.
